Green Growth Suriname is dedicated to building a future where people and nature thrive together. Our work is guided by the wisdom and values of Suriname’s Indigenous and Tribal Peoples — especially the Tareno — whose deep connection with the forest reflects balance, respect, and sustainability.

Developing and implementing models to include nature in national development processes — near-real-time satellite monitoring, citizen science, and building blocks for policy support.
Socio-economic projects
Designing and executing projects that contribute to the mission: a community-owned guesthouse in Kwamalasamutu, and the Tuhka roasted Brazil nut enterprise in Alalapadu.
Capacity building
Training sessions, workshops, seminars and socio-cultural excursions — the FOREST93 campaign, Green Growth Champions, and environmental financing training for policymakers.
About the foundation
We believe conservation should be people-oriented. Therefore, we built our programs upon, and with respect for, existing social systems. Our projects are designed for growth and are driven by local needs and knowledge to assure sustainable solutions.
Green Growth Suriname envisions Suriname as a country that recognises and maintains its ecological and cultural balance, populated by its citizens that are enabled and recognised as cornerstones of a sustainable society.

Our board
The organisation was established by Surinamese professionals with each more than a decade of experience working in policy and local processes on the nexus of nature and sustainable development in Suriname, and the wider world.
Board of patrons
The board is supported by a Board of Patrons: people with outstanding track records in conservation, wildlife or socio-economic work, who act as trusted advisors.
